Botulinum Toxin (Botox):
A Medical Guide to Wrinkle Reduction
Expert Neuromodulator Treatments for Dynamic Wrinkles, Hyperhidrosis, and Migraines

Understanding Botulinum Toxin
What is Botulinum Toxin? Commonly known by the brand name Botox®, this is a highly purified medical protein. It works as a neuromodulator, meaning it temporarily blocks the nerve signals sent to specific muscles. This causes the muscle to relax, which in turn softens and prevents the "dynamic" wrinkles created by facial expressions.
Who Can Benefit?
Treatment is ideal for both aesthetic prevention and medical correction.
- ✅ Aesthetic: Individuals with moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles.
- ✅ Frown Lines (Glabella)
- ✅ Forehead Lines
- ✅ Crow's Feet (around eyes)
- ✅ "Bunny Lines" (on nose)
- ✅ Medical: Patients diagnosed with:
- ✅ Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in underarms, palms)
- ✅ Chronic Migraines
- ✅ Masseter Hypertrophy (jaw clenching, facial slimming)
Why It's Important
Botox is one of the most studied and safest medical aesthetic treatments worldwide. Its importance lies in both prevention and treatment.
- ✅ Prophylactic Care: By relaxing muscles early, it prevents dynamic lines from becoming permanent "static" wrinkles.
- ✅ Medical Relief: Provides life-changing results for hyperhidrosis and migraine sufferers.
- ✅ High Safety Profile: Non-surgical, minimal downtime, and temporary effects.
- ✅ Natural Results: When done by an expert, it allows for expression while softening harsh lines.
Types of Neuromodulators & Techniques

"Botox" is a brand name. The medical substance is Botulinum Toxin Type A. At Amir Beladi Polyclinic, we use only FDA-approved toxins, selecting the best one for your anatomy and goals.
| Product | Key Characteristic | Typical Onset | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Botox® (OnabotulinumtoxinA) | The "gold standard" with moderate diffusion. Less spread. | 4-7 days | Precision areas (e.g., crow's feet, glabella). |
| Dysport® (AbobotulinumtoxinA) | Has a wider "spread" (diffusion) from the injection point. | 2-4 days | Large areas (e.g., forehead, underarm sweating). |
| Xeomin® (IncobotulinumtoxinA) | A "pure" toxin with no accessory proteins. | 5-7 days | Patients who may have built a tolerance to other toxins. |
The Procedure: A 15-Minute Treatment

Consultation & Mapping
(20-30 Minutes)
- Discuss your goals.
- Dermatologist assesses your muscle movement.
- We create a "map" for injection points.
- Review consent and answer all questions.
Cleansing & Preparation
(5 Minutes)
- You recline comfortably.
- Treatment area is thoroughly cleansed with alcohol.
- Injection points are marked (if needed).
- Ice may be offered for comfort (numbing cream is rarely needed).
Precise Injection
(5-10 Minutes)
- Using a tiny, ultra-fine needle.
- Your specialist administers small, precise injections.
- Patients report a feeling of a "tiny pinch" that lasts seconds.

(5 Minutes)

- We review all aftercare instructions with you.
- You can return to work immediately.
- A 2-week follow-up appointment is scheduled.
Session Requirements: Botox is not permanent. Results last 3 to 4 months. We recommend scheduling your next session when you first notice movement returning, not after it's fully gone.
Pre-Treatment Preparation Guidelines
1 Week Before
- Stop blood-thinning supplements (Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo).
- Avoid NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Aspirin) to minimize bruising.
- (Consult your physician before stopping any prescribed medication).
2-3 Days Before
- Avoid Alcohol. Alcohol thins the blood and increases bruising risk.
- Avoid topical Retinoids or harsh exfoliants on the treatment area.
- Hydrate well.
Treatment Day
- Arrive with a clean face (no makeup).
- Eat a light meal.
- Be prepared to discuss your full medical history with your specialist.
You must not proceed with treatment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an active skin infection at the injection site, or have a diagnosed neuromuscular disorder (e.g., Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome).
